Turkey with the Midas Touch

This picture and recipe on the BBC website caught our eye - a gold plated turkey to bring sparkle to the Xmas dinner table. All you need to do is cook your turkey as normal and then gild it with 25 small sheets of 25K gold leaf! That's all, and the turkey is still edible....Not so sure about the green stuff around it though. Thanks to Tanya for alerting us to this great recipe.

BeGolden in Fabulous Magazine

Although you can't see our products in the above image, our best-selling Seletti gold mugs and our gold teapot both featured in this weekend's Fabulous Magazine (News of the World 28/11/10). They look gorgeous in a festive interiors photoshoot which displays metallic hues, rich jewel colours and a touch of frost. Thanks to Sophie, the stylist who selected our products to be included!

Gorgeous Gold Dust Skull

I'm not actually sure that 'gorgeous' is the right word. This  gold skull amazing though and strangely mesmerising when you see it in the flesh. Made from ceramic and then dipped in gold and sprinkled in gold dust it is a work of art. We decided to invest in a few skulls as we've really noticed that they are scattered around everywhere at the moment and we'd read in one of the design magazines that they were going to become the 'antlers' of 2011. Also, we can't help but be swayed by everyone else and when we spoke to Andrew our supplier who makes them he said, ' I've only got a few gold ones left and one of the big fashion houses has shown interest in them for their next season'. We had to buy more.

Gold Exhibition at the Chicago Field Museum

I recently had a short trip to Chicago and when I saw that the renowned Field Museum was staging a temporary exhibition on Gold, I had to pay a visit. There were plenty of historical and scientific facts, but the most striking exhibit was the 300 square foot room covered in 23k gold leaf. I discovered that there is peach gold, purple gold and black gold as well as the better known white, yellow and pink versions. I also found out that my weight in gold would be worth over £3million! But overall, I was slightly disappointed - they could have done more to display the enduring beauty and glamour of gold (and it's application in fashion, interiors and jewellery). The obligatory gift shop at the end of the exhibition was disappointing - tacky gold knick knacks, they most definitely need some of our tasteful BeGolden delights in there.

These gold leather journals are featured in this month's Elle Decoration magazine as part of an article on Christmas gifts "the most fabulous treats around".  Elle Decoration is the world's best selling homes magazine and frequently features products from Liberty, Selfridges, Zara Home etc so we are very pleased to be included.  Our gold leather stationery range is a popular staple of the BeGolden collection. Lovingly handmade in West Sussex using the best quality recycled paper and leather in a gorgeous shade of gold.

And the other good news is that we're in EKBB magazine (December) with our acrylic gold candelabra from Titi Madam. This is part of a gorgeous feature on using candelabras to create festive dinner tables. This candelabra is a modern take on a very traditional design using contemporary materials to update the look.

We're very excited this week as two of BeGolden's products made it into the glamorous Kitchens, Bedrooms, Bathrooms magazine (November edition). They have a gorgeous feature on metallic home accessories called Bronze Age - let your home dazzle this autumn with shimmering metallics in bronze, gold and rich copper shades. The products featured are our gold brass toothbrush holder and cotton wool pot. It's certainly the season for introducing some golden accessories into your home, so hopefully this will inspire more people to take a look at our shimmering range.

Such a Pretty Ring!

We've just got the new collection of Lucas Jack Gold Button Rings and the pink one is absolutely divine. The colour of the stone is just like raspberry sorbet and it goes so well with the gold. I took this photo out in the garden and am so pleased that it really captures the beauty of it. (Photography is all new to me and I am swiftly turning quite nerdy about it)
