Kate Moss and the Book Launch

I'm sure the book is great and full of juicy stories about drugs, sex and rock 'n' roll but the only thing I'm really interested in is the dress. I love it. How amazing does she look? I know she could luck great in a hessian sack but still, she does look amazing in this slinky number. I'm not sure it would look quite as good on me...

Kristen Stewart sparkles in gold dress at Twilight Breaking Dawn part 2 premiere

Kristen turned a few heads this week in this fabulous gold gown, proving - as if we didn't know - that gold is a really stunning choice for a night out.  We're not convinced that we could carry off the sheer corset look to quite the same effect but hey, it might be worth a try!

BeGolden hits the beach

Doesn't our mug look great!! Neal from Velo Adventures sent us this photo at the weekend. He'd taken a troupe of cyclists down to to the coast and given them a well earned cup of tea on arrival.

If you fancy an amazing cycling trip speak to Neal at http://www.theveloadventurecompany.com/

Rylan sings 'Gold' on the XFactor

Well, what a showdown last night! I do love a bit of tension.

Poor old Rylan, Gary Barlow really isn't that keen on him.

Here at BeGolden we generally love all things gold but his rendition of a Spandau Ballet classic has definitely left us divided...

Strictly Come Dancing Kimberley Walsh vs Victoria Pendleton

It's the outfits that I love! All this gold shimmering sparkle is right up my street.

Apparently there is some friction between Kimberely and Victoria on this season's Strictly Come Dancing which is bound to increase viewing figures. Why do we love a good squabble? So very British.

A Stunning Gold Feature Wall

As featured on the website Design Hunter, this really is the most stunning feature imaginable.
It was created when a former Grade II listed methodist chapel was converted into a striking and contemporary modern homeIn a nod to the property's ecclesiastical past the large open plan living area was given a striking 7 metre high 23 carat gold leaf wall, which reflects the changing light throughout the day and adds a warmth and richness to the design scheme.
Gorgeous.

Kate Middleton Goes Gold

What a sensational dress! We love it.

Made by Alexander McQueen, the gold and white dress was Kate's choice for the Malaysian state dinner - apparently the golden floral embroidery is meant to resemble Malaysia's national flower, the hibiscus.

How beautiful does she look.

We love Gold and we love Kate - perfect combo!

Our Gold Leather Satchels are In!

Gold Leather Satchel from BeGolden £95

We are so excited about this new addition to our BeGolden range. Satchels are everywhere and we have been searching for a quality supplier for a gold satchel bag to add to our range since early this year. We are delighted with this little beauty which we now have available on our online shop. If you can resist buying for yourself, this would make a fabulous Birthday or Christmas gift.

Gold Studded Accessories

They are all the rage! Everywhere you look at the moment you see gold studs. Gold studs on collars, on cuffs, on bags and as shown in these cute little black Zara pumps, even on shoes. Adds a bit of attitude. We're all for it.

Brocade goes Big this Autumn/Winter 2012

Every magazine I've read lately is featuring gold brocade. The fabrics are heavy and metallized and the look is so cool.

As they say on www.elle.com, 'Nothing gets a woman through the fall and winter weather like rich lavish fabrics and designs. From lace to velvet to brocade, fall runways exhibited the sleekest of styles for a season of luxe dressing'

Couldn't agree more.

Off to see Anna Karenina to get more inspiration.

Post Boxes Go Gold

What a fab idea! I love the Royal Mail's initiative to paint the post boxes in the home towns of Gold Medalists. Maybe this is the start of things to come. I'm thinking gold lines rather than yellow lines, gold lamposts, gold zebra crossings...we need more bling.

23 Carat Gold Spa Treatment

I love the idea of using gold in beauty treatments. At the Dolphin Square Spa in Pimlico they are championing the process of using products that contain 23 Carat gold particles which amongst other things: stimulate microcirculation; reduce wrinkles and fine lines and bring radiance and luminosity. Who could ask for more!!

I've checked the Dohpin Square Spa out on line ( www.dolphinsquare.co.uk/spa/) and it looks amazing - compleltey indulgent, eastern, decadent and above all gold. Just my type of place.

Opening Ceremony Outfits

Well these outfits caused a bit of a stir!

Within seconds Stella McCartney tweeted to make it quite clear that she designed the athletic wear and not the 'type of shellsuit that Jimmy Saville would be proud to wear' as one person called it. We love all things gold, but even we have to agree that these suits with the gold armpits and collars look at tiny bit Flash Gordon.

Still, if it inspires us to win loads of gold medals then we're behind the chioce every step of the way.

Olympic Gold Medals

We're getting very excited about the Olympics here at BeGolden HQ - all this talk about 'Gold'! We're loving it!

It's the gold medals that interest us most (I don't think we're alone here).

Did you know - and I'm sounding like my Dad here - that the medals are designed every event by the hosting country? This time they have been created by David Watkins and produced at the Royal Mint in Llantrisant, South Wales. The second fact of the day is.....the gold medal is madeup of 92.5% silver!! Only 1.34% of it is gold and the remainder is copper. I can't see anyone complaining, but this does seem a bit stingy. More gold is what we say.

Maidstone Museum's Golden East Wing Extension

Maidstone Museum has added a striking new golden East Wing to its listed Elizabethan building. The two gold copper alloy shingle and glass clad extensions were designed by architect Hugh Broughton. As featured this month (July 12) in Elle Decoration. We were inspired to find some more stunning gold buildings from around Europe......

Jubilee Banner Adorned with 500,000 Gold Buttons

The artist Ann Carrington has created a velvet banner to hang from the stern of the Royal Barge for the Thames Diamond Jubilee procession. The magnificent red banner is embroidered with over half a million golden buttons which took 4 months to sew on. The banner takes its design inspiration from the  Coronation Crown as well as another 'Royal' tradition -  the London Pearly Kings and Queens who have been embellishing their suits with pearl buttons since the 19th century. The end result is stunning and altogether fitting for the Royal Jubilee Barge. But much as we love gold here at BeGolden, we reckon that sewing on half a million gold buttons represents a real labour of love and must have nearly driven Ann and her team crazy!

Jessie J in those gold jeans...

She looked amazing. How she carries off the outfits she wears is an extraordinary sartorial feat. There are so many reasons to watch The Voice ( Will.I.am, Danny...) but the thing that keeps me coming back is 'what will Jessie be wearing?'

If I could get those trousers past my knees I'd wear them.

Seletti Coffee Pot Featured in the Evening Standard

Thanks to the Evening Standard featuring our stunning Gold Seletti Coffee Pot we're now having to re-order. We love it when that happens. Picked up as one of the gems from the Ideal Home Show it caught the eye of so many people that we've been inundated with orders.   We are getting new stock in for the beginning of May so pre-order now if you want to join the queue.

Alison@Home at the Ideal Home Exhibition

Within two weeks of us stocking the Seletti Gold Coffee Pot it was spotted by the savvy scouts at Alison@Home. Clever girls. It is such a beautiful item: perfectly glossy; traditional yet contemporary; practical and at a good price. Who could ask for more?

http://www.begolden.co.uk/search,i.html?q=coffee+pot

It was placed on their stand at the IdealHome Exhibition and quite rightly stood out from the crowd. Why have a normal coffee pot when you can have a cleverly designed gold one?!

Would Louis XV have loved BeGolden?

We think he would have, and so does Katrina Burroughs. In an article written in the Sunday Times Home Section at the end of March Katrina talks of how we there is a current move by designers to 'bring flamboyance, frivolity and sparkle in from the cold'. We couldn't agree more - every room benefits from a touch of glamorous gold! The conclusion of the article reads, "If you feel you could be converted back to gold, but need persuading, browse the glittery kit at www.begolden.co.uk, from the tiny round gold framed mirrors to a Seletti gilded egg box. Louis XV would have loved that". Praise indeed.

Golden Globe Chefs put Gold on the Puds

Well what an idea and what a controversy! Not sure quite how I feel about it. I'm usually well up for gold on everything, but do we really need to eat it?

The chefs ,Thomas Henzi and Suki Sugiura, decided to put real gold flakes on the dessert which was "a chocolate delice, almond crunch terrine, garnished with acacia honey, caramel and fresh berries" sprinkled with edible flakes at $135 a gram. Imagine. All swigged down with a glug of Moet & Chandon Grand Vintage 2002.

The issue is, is this fair and right when so many are living on the poverty line?

Answers on a postcard...

Gold Cape Spun Entirely by Spiders

This golden cape is currently on show at the V& A and the amazing thing about it is, it's made entirely from spider silk. It took 1.4 million Golden Orb spiders.

Now this bit is weird....apparently you can't feel spider silk. Here is an excerpt from the Observer magazine this weekend,

"The cloak has one especially appealing feature. 'It's like an  invisibility cloak', says Godley ( the man behind the creation) 'because you can't feel spider silk'. I test this by holding my palms out, eyes closed. When asked whether either or both hands hold part of the cape, I can't tell."

How mad is that?

I know it is completley irrational, but the thought of wearing something created by spiders just makes my skin crawl. Gold coloured or not.
